About Us

Our Story

David Brown & Partners has been providing legal advice to the Hills area and beyond for 40 years.

Founded by David Brown in 1986, the firm relocated from Old Northern Road to Norwest Business Park in 2004 to enable us to more effectively serve our clientele.
Our aim is to provide personalised service to all of our clients. We pride ourselves in knowing each client by name and being familiar with the intricacies each matter provides.
Our solicitors are very accessible and willing to advise clients on the phone or in person. Our support staff are very friendly and are always available to assist you.
The firm consists of solicitors David Brown and Ian Thompson and paralegal support staff Jodi O'Brien, Belinda Tombs, and Karen Brown.

Our Solicitors

David W. Brown (B. Comm. LLB)

David has been a Solicitor since 1977. He graduated from University of NSW with degrees in Law and Commerce.

His areas of practice include:

  • Conveyancing
  • Probate
  • Wills
  • Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship Appointments
  • Commercial Work
  • Sales and Purchases of Businesses

David has 4 children and 2 grandchildren.  Two of his children work at the practice.

He has been living in the Hills area for over 30 years and has had involvement in local charities and businesses.  He has especially enjoyed being involved in the planning and commencement of a local school and served on the School Board for many years.  

David’s interests include gardening, supporting the Sydney Swans, travelling, involvement in a local church and is a member of the Rotary Club of Castle Hill. 

David particularly enjoys assisting clients to find cost effective ways of resolving disputes, especially in the area of contested wills and estates.  

 

Ian C. Thompson (BA LLB)

Ian was admitted as a Solicitor in 1978 after graduating from Sydney University in Arts and Law.  He has been working as a Solicitor in the Hills district with David Brown for over 35 years.

 

His main areas of practice are:

Ian has been married for over 36 years, and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. He has lived in the Hills district for over 25 years and has been actively involved in local schools, churches, sporting and community groups.  His present interests outside of work include spending time with family and friends, reading, creative writing, church, soccer and language tutoring.

 

 

 

Paralegal Team

The following paralegal staff are here to assist you with your legal requirements.

Jodi
Jodi O' Brien

Jodi is our senior conveyancing paralegal with 29 years experience in property law.  She first joined David Brown and Partners in 2000.   Prior to that Jodi was employed in a large busy corporate firm for 17 years where she gained valuable experience.

 

Jodi takes pride in her attention to detail and efficient work practice ensuring our clients’ property transactions run smoothly.   She enjoys dealing directly with our clients guiding them throughout their conveyance with calm and sound advice.

 

On a personal note Jodi enjoys spending time with her 3 children, family and friends.  She volunteers on school and sporting committees and coaches a local junior netball team.   Jodi also enjoys live theatre, in particular musicals and is a keen supporter of the Sydney Swifts Netball team.

 

Karen Brown

In 2005 Karen graduated from University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Exercise and Sport Science.

Having previously worked in a couple of local fitness centres as a personal trainer, Karen joined our team in 2006, looking for a career change.

Karen’s role at the firm is assistant conveyancer and office administrator. Karen is an avid supporter of the Sydney Swans. 

 

Belinda Tombs

Belinda has worked at the firm for over 13 years and is our Deceased Estate’s paralegal. She prides herself in efficient and accurate work and is empathetic and compassionate with family members who have lost a loved one. Her aim is to make the process of completing a Deceased Estate as seamless and quick as possible.
 
Belinda is also our firm’s bookkeeper.
 
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children  She is currently having some time off work to raise her children and looks forward to returning to work late 2018. She attends a local Anglican church and is a keen supporter of the Sydney Swans.
